Genting Highlands Casino Unveils Major Expansion

Genting Highlands Casino, a leading gambling and tourist attraction in Malaysia, has unveiled an aggressive expansion plan that is expected to redefine its products and services and, in the process, improve the lot of its guests.

The new development which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 is a part of the master plan to establish Genting Highlands as one of the leading integrated resorts in Asia.

Some of the new features that will be introduced include a new hotel tower, a large gaming floor, and an entertainment centre. The new hotel tower to be called “Skyline Towers” will boast of having more than one thousand rooms including deluxe suites, high-end penthouses and many more.

This addition is expected to greatly boost the resorts capacity and thus increase the number of guests it can host and thus make it more attractive to both leisure and business travellers.

The casino floor is also set to receive new gaming tables and slot machines, as well as new high limit gaming areas. This expansion seeks to accommodate all types of gamers, the recreational, and the professional, and is expected to draw more foreign players.

The new casino will include both the conventional table games and new age games to make sure that the visitors get a taste of all the latest trends prevailing in the gambling industry.

Besides the gaming and hospitality upgrade, Genting Highlands Casino will also be launching a new entertainment circuit with a large theatre, live performance arenas and a food court. It will also be used to hold music concerts, drama, and comedy performances from local and international artists and performers hence making it a central place for entertainment in the area.

The dining facilities will comprise of fine dining restaurants, quick service restaurants, and boutique food outlets to provide the visitors a complete food experience.

The expansion is anticipated to generate a number of economic impacts in the region. Construction phase only will create thousands of jobs while after construction, new facilities will also create employment in other sectors such as food and beverage, leisure, and shopping among others.

The number of visitors is also expected to rise and this is expected to benefit the other businesses in the area and the economy in general.

“Genting Highlands has always been at the forefront of the integrated resort business and this expansion is just a reflection of our vision to give the best.” Said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman and CEO of Genting Group. “We are looking forward to the new possibilities that this development will present and are already eager to share our improvements with the international visitors.”

The expansion is in line with Genting Highlands’ plan to diversify its revenue sources and move away from the conventional gaming revenue. To expand its target market and offer a more diverse form of entertainment, the resort has decided to put money into non-gaming amenities.

This strategy is in line with the current global trend in the casino business where operators are more and more interested in developing large-scale complexes which include not only gambling facilities but other amenities as well.

This project has been welcomed by the local government officials and the experts in the tourism industry as a new addition to the Malaysian tourism industry.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, also weighed in on the development saying, “Genting Highlands has been one of the biggest players in the Malaysian tourism sector and this expansion will certainly enhance its position.” “We are glad to witness this investment and we are quite sure that it will yield positive results in the area.”

When construction is ongoing, Genting Highlands Casino will keep on running the current facilities in order to allow the guests to enjoy the current services that the resort has to offer while anticipating for the new ones. This expansion will be a new chapter for Genting Highlands and it will help in increasing the status of the resort and the experience of the visitors.
